Frohar Hamidi
Sun’s Girls Organization
Frohar founded the Sun’s Girls Organization(SGO) in response to the heart-breaking ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan. With a mission to provide online education for Afghan girls who were deprived of their right to continue learning, SGO offers free educational opportunities to young girls across the country, supported by a dedicated team of 20 volunteers.
SGO has developed non-formal education programmes designed to meet the unique needs of marginalized girls. These include accelerated learning programs, life skills education, and vocational training courses in subjects like English, Turkish, Art, Photography, Math, Computer Science, and even Astronomy—all held online to ensure accessibility for those unable to attend traditional schools.
“Frohar truly deserves this award for her exceptional commitment to empowering young girls and making a profound difference in their lives.”
Their work not only focuses on Afghan girls’ education but plays a vital role in breaking the cycle of poverty, enabling these girls to reach their full potential. By offering quality education, SGO positively impacts not just the individual students, but their families, communities, and society at large.
Moreover, SGO is focused on creating long-term, sustainable change. By equipping girls with essential skills and resources, the organisation ensures that its impact extends well beyond immediate educational interventions, fostering lasting growth and empowerment for generations to come.
