Roya Rasouli
Femwear
The Fashion Designer Championing Women’s Health
At just 27, Roya Rasouli is making waves in both the fashion and women’s health advocacy worlds. Her brand, FemWear, is redefining fashion by creating stylish and comfortable clothing specifically designed for women with chronic health conditions, particularly gynaecological and gut-related disorders like endometriosis.
Growing up in Manchester, Roya always had a deep passion for fashion. She pursued her dream by studying fashion design at university, but behind the scenes, she was battling an invisible health struggle. For ten years, she suffered from the debilitating symptoms of endometriosis—an often misunderstood and misdiagnosed condition that affects one in ten women worldwide. Like many others, her pain was dismissed or overlooked, leading to years of unanswered questions and frustration.
Her journey took a pivotal turn in 2019 when she finally received a diagnosis. Instead of allowing her condition to define her, Roya transformed her experience into a mission-driven career.
Understanding the challenges of dressing comfortably while living with a chronic illness, Roya launched FemWear — a brand designed with the unique needs of women with health conditions in mind. The label focuses on creating inclusive, comfortable, and stylish clothing that empowers women without compromising on aesthetics. From soft, adaptable fabrics to designs that accommodate bloating and discomfort, FemWear stands out as a brand that truly understands its customers.
Beyond fashion, Roya is committed to advocacy and support. She runs workshops and support groups for women with endometriosis and other health conditions, creating a safe space for education and empowerment. Her work has garnered widespread recognition, earning her a spot as a finalist in this year’s Pride of Britain awards.
As Kurdish woman, Roya has overcome societal barriers, showcasing that pain and limitations should never hinder personal growth.
Roya’s journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the power of turning adversity into opportunity. As an ambassador for The King’s Trust, she continues to inspire young entrepreneurs and those facing health challenges, proving that personal hardship can become a catalyst for meaningful change.
