Guest Award Announcer – Stanley Chow
Manchester based Stanley Chow, is a world renowned Grammy nominated Illustrator (White Stripes’ limited-edition USB flash drive for the Icky Thump album ), whose artwork features in adverts and adorns walls, magazines, book covers and even balloons.
Stanley’s story is as every bit inspiring as those we have featured over the past 32 years at the Inspiring Women Awards. From drawing on paper bags whilst working in his parents Chippy to designing a bootleg gig poster for The White Stripes that changed everything.
Stanley is the resident illustrator for The New York Times Magazine, where one of his covers featured a photograph of a metallic helium balloon depicting the face of Presidential hopeful Donald Trump.
Manchester born Stanley is best known for his striking portraits of famous faces, which are, at least we at IWA believe, becoming a style as recognisable as Warhol’s Pop Art.
We are delighted, Stanley is joining us on the 17th May 2024 at The Lowry Hotel, but if you want to see more of his work before then, he is holding an exhibition at The Edge, Chorlton – a great way to whet your appetite.
