Guest Award Announcer – Caroline Roberts-Cherry
Caroline is a BAFTA winning producer and a Grierson award winning director. She is the Founder and MD of Manchester based Saffron Cherry Productions, which makes Factual, Kids and Drama programmes.
Previously, she was an Executive Producer at the BBC in Entertainment, and a commissioner in BBC Education. She was part of SMT as BBC Television’s Independents and Diversity Executive where she ran the Diversity Action Plan. She headed up an ITV quiz label Man Possessed before establishing the multi-genre Saffron Cherry Productions in Manchester in 2018.
Children’s content includes The World According to Grandpa for Milkshake! The show was nominated for the RTS award for best children’s programme and won the Broadcast Award for best pre-school, and the Voice of the Listeners and Viewers Award for best Children’s TV. The Wonton Warrior, made for CBBC has garnered three international nominations.
Saffron Cherry also produces the Madame Blanc Mysteries, now in its third series, for Channel 5 and Acorn TV. The show was created by Saffron Cherry’s creative director, the popular actor and writer Sally Lindsay (Coronation St, Mount Pleasant, Cold Call). Sally is also the lead and co-writer of The Madame Blanc Mysteries which she also exec produces alongside Caroline.
Caroline has sat on the Advisory Committee for England at Ofcom and is a long-term theatre trustee at Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, and currently Opera North. She is a Smartworks Ambassador and has chaired the Pankhurst Trust incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid since 2021.
