Nominating is a pain – so is it worth it?
Last year I nominated two people for the inaugural I Love Manchester awards and realised first-hand how painstaking it is to gather the information and then make a worthwhile nomination (clearly I only managed it with one of my nominations as the other didn’t make the cut). I’m sure many people find themselves in the same position and possibly give up before pressing that submit button.
So for everyone who has thought ‘she should be given an award for what she does’ and then does nothing or gives up, I can tell you that every finalist I have spoken to over the past 33 years of organising the Inspiring Women Awards, appreciates the effort, but don’t just take my word for it…. Lucy Nicholson, 2022 IWA Entrepreneur finalist reflects on her nomination.
“Being part of the Inspiring Women Awards was great for me personally, as it helped to build my confidence and gave me extra drive to go after the things I want professionally. It was very motivating to listen to the stories of so many other positive women who are following their dreams and achieving great things.”
Every Awards will have their own criteria and you will need to take this into account, but there are plenty of sites and blogs that can give you generic helpful advice too. All designed to take the pain away and make the whole process more relevant, easier and hopefully more successful.
Our nomination page is where you will find tips on how to make a meaningful nomination for the 2025 Inspiring Women Awards, some more obvious than others – for example don’t send in a CV – they are not applying for a job and don’t just say your nominee is outstanding – prove it.
The Inspiring Women Awards accepts written or video nominations, with judges undertaking independent research. All nominees are given the opportunity of adding to their nominations which is particulary helpful in providing more personal information.
The closing date for the 33rd Inspiring Women Awards is midnight 31/12/2024 with the shortlist published in February 2025 and winners announced at the Inspiring Women Awards Lunch 16th May 2025.
So what are you waiting for?
